We made a departure from our familiar touring model of playing folk music shows every night for small audiences and trying to scrape together diesel money from a passed-hat. For this summer tour Splendor momentarily transformed into a surf-rig and played almost no shows. We built a 13 board rack and a wetsuit drying system of sorts. We partnered with some outdoor adventure brands and got some sponsorship in exchange for capturing content for their social media channels. And so, a scrappy group of Splendor surfers spent two weeks living out of our 36 foot war-rig, grilling out in campground parking lots and being one with the salty Pacific. We began by long boarding the sleepy foggy rollers of Marin county, lingered in Santa Cruz while the swell was in and eventually made our way to the popular and crowded no-wetsuit-warm SoCal beach breaks of San Diego.
